Horsebox Hire – Terms & Conditions
Please read the following terms and conditions carefully.
This is a legally binding contract which you will need to sign
to be able to hire the horse box from Equus Horse Box
Hire.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
- Definitions: ‘Owner’ means EQUUS Horsebox Hire. ‘Hirer’ means
the person(s) named in this Agreement. - Use of Vehicle: The vehicle may only be used for the lawful
transport of no more than two horses. - Authorised Drivers: Only drivers named and approved may drive
the vehicle. - Security Deposit: A £50 refundable security deposit is payable on
collection. - Insurance Excess: £700
- Financial Responsibility: The Hirer warrants sufficient cleared
funds are immediately available at all times. - Failure to Pay or Breach: Any breach or failure to pay will result in
immediate legal action. - Mileage Allowance: 200 miles per day included. Excess charged
at £0.45 per mile. - Fuel: Vehicle must be returned at the same fuel level as
collected. - Vehicle Condition: Vehicle must be returned clean and
undamaged. - Late Return: £50 per hour or part hour applies.
- Cleaning Charge: £50 charge if returned unclean.
- Fines & Penalties: Hirer is responsible for all fines, charges and
penalties. - Cancellation Policy: 50% refund if cancelled in writing MORE
THAN 10 DAYS before hire date. - Cancellations within 10 days are non-refundable.
- Breakdown & Delays: No liability accepted for delays or missed
events. - Accidents & Damage: Must be reported immediately. No
admission of liability. - Theft: Must be reported to police immediately with crime
reference. - Geographic Limits: England, Scotland & Wales only.
- Governing Law: This Agreement is governed by English law.
- The Hirer must comply at all times with the Highway Code and
all DEFRA regulations relating to the transportation of horses.
- The vehicle is limited to a maximum of two (2) horses, each
not exceeding 17.2hh. Carrying larger horses may render the
vehicle
overweight.
- Any DVSA/VOSA fines or penalties relating to vehicle weight
or loading shall be the sole responsibility of the Hirer.
- Horses, animals, tack and personal property carried in the
vehicle are not insured by the Owner and must be insured by the
Hirer or
horse owner.
- The Hirer agrees to fully cooperate with the Owner and the
Owner’s insurers until any claim is fully settled.
- No more than three (3) persons may travel in the cab. Children
under seven (7) must use a compliant car seat supplied by the
Hirer.
- Vehicle insurance certificate, MOT certificate and vehicle
height details are kept in the cab of the vehicle.
- The Owner will provide operating instructions on collection and
a Citroën user manual is kept in the vehicle.
- The Hirer is responsible for all fines, penalties, tolls,
congestion charges and parking tickets incurred during the hire
period.
- The Hirer must not permit misuse of the vehicle by themselves
or any passenger.
- If the vehicle becomes unroadworthy due to the Owner’s fault,
unused hire days will be refunded.
- No refund applies if the vehicle becomes unroadworthy due to
the Hirer’s fault, misuse or breach.
- The Hirer must comply at all times with the Highway Code and
